The thesis explores the peculiarities of expressing the ideas of German romanticism in the Ukrainian spiritual culture. General features of romanticism as a kind of a world outlook based on philosophical concepts of individualism, sentimentalism, subjectivism and the ideas of "sturmers" have been revealed. The perception of German romanticism by Ukrainian thinkers and the peculiarities of romantic irony expression in Ukrainian context have been traced. The influence of romantic outlook on the development of national ideas in the Ukrainian spiritual culture has been investigated.
