Essay

Thesis is devoted to the research of symbolism in philosophical science of Ukraine. Different approaches to the problem of symbol in European philosophical thought are characterized. Gnosiological nature of symbol, its contest, functions and peculiarities of its dynamics in the process of formation and development of Ukrainian philosophical culture. Symbolism of fore-Ukrainians' mythological vision of the world was revealed. The place, role and meaning of symbol in the philosophical culture of Kyiv Rus period and First Ukrainian Renaissance period was determined.
