The Object: Water transport systems. The Purpose: To determine the effect of the change in the pumping unit rotor angular velocity on the water main parameters and to establish the control range that would guarantee safe and reliable operation of the system. Methods and equipment: Theoretical and experimental studies were performed in operating facilities using state-of-the-art in- strumentation, microprocessors and computers. Theoretical and practical outcomes: Dependence of the system operating parameters on the change in the pumping unit rotor revolutions was estab- lished. Safe and efficient control ranges were determined. The novelty is in that theoretical depend- ence was developed and confirmed practically of the interdependence between the system operating conditions in the case of non-stationary and non-sustained water movement through the water main; safe and efficient control range was determined. The extent of implementation: the control system has been implemented in TPA "Kharkivkomunpromv od". Sphere (branch) of usage: water supply system involving water transport over great distances
