Essay

This thesis deals with methodological base of poverty measurement in empirical sociological surveys by the example of Ukraine. The variety of aspects of poverty is analyzed and the classification of main methodological approaches to the poverty measurement is offered. The method of estimation of poverty prevalence in Ukraine is proposed. It is proved that absolute approach t poverty measurement is most appropriate in Ukraine. It is more reasonable to use the consumption expenditures of households as an indicator of well-being.
