Extracellular application of hyperforin from 0.04 to 0.8 mkM induced a shift the maximum of the current/voltage (I/V) relationship from -2 to -10 mV, a profound deceleration of the current activation kinetics and significant inhibition of the amplitude of P-current. Calmidazolium (0.5 mM), the antagonist of intracellular Ca2+-binding protein calmodulin inhibited the hyperforin-induced shift the maximum of I/V curve and the slow-down of the activation kinetics.
