Essay

Genetically modified phosphinotrycin-tolerant sugar beet is a valuable kind of parental material for breeding. Author identified bar-transgene, which is responsible for herbicide resistance of plants and observed it successful transmission by hybridisation. Transgene is stable and inherits as dominant gene, according to Mendelian law. It has not influents on expression of structural and functional genes and has only additional affect. Using of homozygous pollinator will cause 100% tolerance in F1. Productivity and technological properties of transgenic materials depends from their genetic value. B-crosses and selection for high technological properties are sufficient methods of their improvement.
