Chornyj V. Surgical treatment of primary hydatid liver disease.

The thesis is devoted to diagnosis and surgical treatment of 112 patients with primary hydratid liver disease, and among them were 88 (72,1%) from endemic areas. Diagnosis was made by ultrasound examination and computed tomography. Palliative procedures (echinococcectomy) were performed in 68 (55,7%) patients, radical procedures (pericystectomy and liver resection) - in 42 (34,5%), percutaneous punction aspiration technique under ultrasonic giudance - in 12 (9,8%). Specific complications (17,6%), mortality (2,9%) and disease recurrence (7,3%) were noted only after palliative procedures. Radical procedures and miniinvasive technique improved considerably results of surgical treatment in patients with liver hydatidosis.
