Investigated were peculiarities of junior pupils' memory and thinking development in the process of game and problem situation application.The experiment held proved the effectiveness of application of problem situations and game situations as psychological determination factors of memory and thinking development of pupils in the process of learning. The results of the controlling experiment prove the fact that the determination factor of memory and thinking development of the first-year pupils is a didactic game; for the third-year pupils the most effective means of cognitive processes development is problem solving learning.
