The complex method of studying semantics of the musical - song folklore has been worked out; it combines rhyme - structural, intonation and semiotic approaches, it also takes into account data of ethnology, linguistics, physiology of high nervous activities, physiology, the theory of information. The specific feature of semantic codes on the level of intonation has been determined. The rhyme - structure of traditional songs reflects their genre structure. The genetically initial intonation semantics presents the pre-genre period of intonation sense creation, it has biological base and in the philosophical point of whew it remains in the following intonation sense levels of the traditional song culture. The hypothesis of determining of initial intonation semantics of ritual songs has been proposed. In the paper the genetically initial intonation semantics of ritual songs is determined as the unity "life-death". The hypothesis is based on the system of connected positions, each of them, was proved by re searches of well - known scientists.
