Chastnyk O. The Universal and Specific in Space and Time Symbols of Ukrainian and Irish Traditional Art (Comparative and Semiotic Analysis).

The correlation of universal and specific features of traditional art symbols is researched as means of realization of modeling, integrating, differentiating functions. Ideas of semiotics, symbolic theory, theory of information are used. Symbols of ornamental and narrative traditional art are defined as semiotic entity, as a single art field with horizontal and vertical system links. Traditional arts of Ukraine and Ireland are interpreted as correlated systems of imagery-symbolic forms. Algorithm of complex inter-aspect and cross-cultural analysis of traditional symbols is suggested for the first time. New trend of system Celtic and Slavic researches in this field is begun. The materials and conclusions are used in lecture courses on comparative art studies and history of world culture.
