Essay

For the first time a scientific analysis of Russian fantastic novels of the last decade of the 20-th cenury written on the basis of historical material is proposed in the thesis. The genesis of modern Russian historical-fantastic novel is traced. For this purpose the historic fiction in Russian Literature of the first half of the 19-th and the 20-th centuries and also in American literature of the late 60 - early 90 of the 20-th century is examined. Two basic types of Russian historic fiction of the 90-es: "alternative history" and "cryptohistory" and also the phenomena of transition period are analyzed. The place of historical-fantastic works in modern Russian fiction is determined.
