The object: the artistic images in I.O. Bunin’s period of emigration prose (1920–1953) as following: the story collections «Cursed Days» (1920), «Rose of Jerico» (1924), «Mitia’s Love» (1925), «Sunstroke» (1927), «Sacred Tree» (1931), «Looped Ears» (1953), «Dark Alleys» (1937–1953), novel «The life of Arseniev» (1929) etc. The subject of the study is the structure, semantics, typology, poetics, functioning and dynamics of the artistic images studying in the Bunin’s prose; the artistic epitome of the social myth in the above-mentioned texts. Goal: definition of semantic-functional peculiarities, typology and poetics of artistic images in prose I.O. Bunin's period of emigration, understanding of the traditions and innovations of the writer thruogh the prizm of artistic imagery, taking into account the interaction of directions, currents, genres. The research methodology is based on a combination of historical-epistemological, typological, systemic, mythopoetic, archetypal, intertextual methods and approaches. On the basis of phenomenological analysis, author's intentions are reflected in the reflection of aspects of life, crisis and human consciousness. The methodology for considering eidology on the material of prose works is specified, taking into account the following factors: changes in the literary paradigm of the first half of the 20th century; genre-generic system of literature of that time; interaction of literary trends and trends; the influence of different types of art; aspects of artistic images that function on the plot composition, motive-thematic, style, linguistic, spatial-temporal levels of the text; interrelations of artistic images, their transformations, dynamics within the work, creativity of the artist, culture; the ratio of tradition and innovations in artistic images, etc. Materials of the dissertation can be applied in the practice of teaching various courses about the theory and history of literature, the results can be discussed during seminars and training, as well as used for writing and developing manuals and references; also the main ideas are essential for being used while writing diploma and master’s works, for studying the problems of genres functioning in Art and Literature of XX cent. The scientific novelty of the dissertation stems from the multidimensional study of artistic images in prose I.O. Bunin's period of emigration: defined features of the structure of images, due to the interaction of directions and currents, genre-generic diffusion, influence on the literature of other forms of art. The specificity of Bunin's imagery is considered in correlation with author's worldview, historical, social, cultural, biographical context, as well as literary tendencies of the time. Artistic images of I.O. Bunin is characterized in various aspects (objectivity, phenomenology, existential meanings, corporeality, archetypes, mythology, intertextuality, symbolism, manifestation of individual-author's consciousness, spatial-temporal coordinates, narrative strategies, etc.). Dynamics and poetics of artistic images of I.O. Bunin's prose in the period of emigration is studied through the prism of the classical traditions and innovations of the writer, as well as changes in his individual style on the background of the literary paradigm of the first half of the XX century. The field of use: scientific research in literary criticism and educational process.
