The connection between the process of substanti- vation of participles and the two categories of a mo- tivating verb, the category of combinability and the category of transition/intransition, is disclosed in the thesis; the place of substantivized participles in se- mantic paradigm of nouns-deverbatives is deter- mined; semantico-stylistic features of function of substantivized participles in written styles of Ukrai- nian language are disclosed; the role of the process of substantivation in filling semantic lacunas that appear in the world language picture is proved.
