LAVRYNChUK V. The creativity of O.Katrenko in the context of the Ukrainian literature at the end of XІХ - at the beginning of the ХХ-th century.

The work studies Katrenko's life experience and creativity in the immediate connection with philosophical development at the joining point of the two centuries; the author's real part and place in the development of the Ukrainian literature process at the end of XІХ - at the beginning of the ХХ-th centuries is determined; the work investigates the sources and ways of artistic embodiment and retraces the evolution of the moral ethic ideal in O.Katrenko's prose and, besides, it retraces the artistic evolution in genre-stylistic aspect from small prose, from ethnographic every day stories to the works containing the elements of modern technique. The main attention is paid to those works, where the unity of moral, ethical, philosophical, national imperatives can be vividly seen in the writer's perseption of the world.
