In the dissertation the question under the analysis is the social-psychological phenomena of the manager's image through the problem of its formation. Studying the process of image forming as the system of perceptually ridden and mediated views on a chief's personality allowed to establish the theoretical model of this process, mark out factors, on which the value of image integrity and its positive or negative sign depend. Empirical study proved that image forming process includes certain stages - transference from primary views on a person to systematically views on him, which includes perceptual, cognitive and motivational-and-evaluation components. Image integrity depends on inward psychological consistency of three social-psychological components: emotional-behavior reactions, individual-distinguishing specific personality development and professional qualities. Positive or negative image sign depends on common attitude to a chief, which is formed at expense of positive or negative emotional perce ption background of him as personality, depends on systems view about him and correspondence of image content to people expectations. Recommends as to goal-seeking forming positive image of a chief have been drawn up. The positive image of the modern manager allows him to be a success, to administer a collective, etc. It also opens out a path to constructing a positive image of the whole organization.
