Essay

It is shown, that the diabetes development leads to decrease of functional activity of hypothalamic NPY-synthesizing system and inhibition of NPY synthesis in Langerhans islets. The chronic administration of synthetic NPY to the diabetic animals leads to the recovery of amount of beta-cells in islets, stimulates insulin synthesis and secretion, normalizes the amount of alfa-cells, that promote to the decreasing of glycemia level. It is shown, that the effects of NPY depend on the way of its injection and differ in norm and under diabetes.
