Khareba G. Clinical efficacy of selective cryodestruction of the anterior lobe of the pituitary as method of maximal androgen blockade in patients with progressing metastatic prostate cancer.

The dissertation is devoted to the topical question of improvement of technique of treat-ment of progressing metastatic prostate cancer on the basis of influence on hypothalamo-pituitary system. The new method of treatment of a metastatic prostate cancer - selective cryodestruction of the anterior lobe of the pituitary which allows to influence selectively the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland and to avoid complication connected with the damage of the posterior lobe of the pituitary is suggested in the work. Clinical efficacy with research of final results of treatment of the patients of the 4th clinical group with the help of the developed method was investigated. The hormonal state of the patients with prostate cancer and its changes during treatment with the help of selective cryodestruction of the anterior lobe of the pituitary in comparison with other methods of hormone therapy was investigated. The efficacy suggested method of treatment of pain caused by bone metastases of prostate cancer was evaluated in the dissertation.The basic results of the work were introduced into clinical practice and used for treatment of the patients of 4th clinical group with progressing metastatic prostate cancer.
