Essay

The dissertation presents the analysis of a romantic picture of the world and problems of mythopoetics in N.V.Gogol's early creative work. A new approach to the literary investigation of the myth is suggested. It is based on the synthesis of the symbolical, archetypical and traditionalistic conceptions of mythologizm. It has been discovered that the monomyth of Gogol's creative work is the motive of the transformation of a human entity as such, stemming to the universal myth about expiation. Transformation of the Tsar's imperial power and his mythological complex has been revealed in harmony with symbolical elements of the model of the Ukrainian world in the context of Gogol's monomyth. "Nights on Dikanka Farmstead " and "Mirgorod" are interpreted as the texts having the status of a romantic etnocultural (national) myth in its aesthetic, artistic aspect. The constructive metods of analysis of mythocentrical works, reconstruction of their praforms, research of transcultural elements of the myth as a s pecific form of the interliterary entity have been suggested. Ideological mechanisms of mythology are dwelt on. The major outcomes of the research have found their application in the development of the mythologizing conception in the literature of the romanticism epoch. They can be used in teaching the XIX-th century Russian literature course.
