Essay

Oxytocin and vasopressin influence differently on pancreatic alfa- and beta-cells and magnocellular hypothalamic neurons. It was proved for the first lime that influence depends on the method of injection, state of animals, localization of the investigated neurons. It was shawn that in diabetes mellitus oxytocin oppositely to vasopresssin not only stimulate pancreatic insulin synthesis and secretion but also brakes pancreatic destruction and stimulate beta-cells proliferation with intracerebroventricular injection.
