Essay

The role of the enteroendocrine cells of the EC-type under conditions of the hypoxic influence and various photoperiod in the tissues of the gastrointestinal tract is demonstrated. It has been established that one of the mechanisms of adaptive changes under acute hypoxia in the intestinal tissues is an increased melatonin content and an enhanced serotonin excretion by endocrine cells. The efficacy of exogenous melatonin as a means of a partial prevention of hypoxic injuries of the intestinal tissue has been demonstrated.
