New approaches to the stylistic originality understanding of Ukrainian dramaturgy of the 20th years of XX century are determined in the thesis; the attempt to project it to the romantic tradition is made. Special attention is concentrated on the ontological models functioning in the dramaturgy of the analyzed period. Development of the romantic collision "origination of an ideal - doubting in it - failure of the ideal" is having been analyzed in the thesis. Conclusion referring the domination of the pessimistic apprehension of realty in a drama of the 20th years of XX century. The existence of so-called "prophets" play at the Ukrainian literary basis under the "prophet - anti-prophet" antinomy context. Functioning of the romantic hero character and "double"-hero in particular in a drama of the 20th years of XX century are complexly determined. The split personality of the hero takes place on the background of the romantic conflict of the feeling and duty.
