Object of research - financial management subsystem of food retail enterprise. Objective of Research - improvement of scientific-methodical bases and mechanism of controlling within enterprise management system in transitional period. Methods of research: general science methods of logical generalization and system analysis; mathematical-statistical methods; economic-mathematical methods. Theoretical and practical results: the scientific-methodical bases of controlling mechanism for management of enterprise in transition to market economy are developed. Novelty: the notion and description of controlling and mechanism of controlling are specified; the conception of controlling mechanism within management system of enterprise are developed; an expert-analytical observant system is developed; the system of an indexes for operative controlling is offered; the critical indexes of parameters providing a realization of stabilization strategy are developed; the complex of methods and means of tasks for realization of controlling mechanism with taking into consideration a functioning peculiarities of food retail industry small enterprises is adapted; in subsystem of operative controlling a sphere being the problem for small enterprises of food retail industry is identified - the financial subsystem, and the system of indicative indexes, which allows to prevent crisis states is developed.
