Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the investigation of the Sufi model of moral self-perfection. Analyzing integrity and wholeness as different manifestations of active human position towards reality and their ability to be the criterion of human universality and perfection, the author differentiates classic and non-classic Sufism. In the thesis compensatory function of Sufism in Muslim moral practices is shown, thus the Sufi self-perfection system "tarikat" is regarded as a personal moral development program. Self-perfection fundamentals and criteria are determined and analyzed, as well as its relation with the process of self-realization. Considering the self-perfection creative intentions the main modes of human essence realization, offered by Sufism, are analyzed. The significance of religious belief, esthetical and ethical experience is shown.
