The dissertation is devoted to investigation of the criminal plot in the prose of Ivan Franko. The main artistic-compositional modifications of the criminal plot, the methods of its formation and particularity of artistic conflicts are researched. The evolution of Franko's views at psychology of criminal, many-sided (physiological, social, psychological) determination of crime are found out. The typofication of character-criminals on the base of psychological organisation, humane temper and motivation of behaviour is proposed. The attention is paid to Ivan Franko's combination of means used to present his character-criminals.
