The thesis concerns the substantiation of the parameters of the protection technology at the preparatory excavations in the regional distressing zones taking into account definite mechanism of rock mass deformation near the coal pillar. When the pillar makes 0,17 of the depth of the excavation, it becomes unstable, and the floor raises.
