The thesis reflects innovative processes in contemporary Ukrainian literary language that occurred during the last decade of the twentieth century. The group of proper neologisms contains neologisms that were created and those that entered the language. The created neologisms occur by means of either morphological or semantic derivation. The neologisms that entered the language are the result either of migration processes within the vocabulary system from the periphery to the centre or borrowing from other languages.
