Sergeyeva G. English loan words in the Ukrainian law terminology

The object of the study is the English loan words in the Ukrainian law terminology represented in modern dictionaries and law texts; the aim of this research is to make a list of the terms borrowed from the English language to the Ukrainian law terminological system and to find out typical peculiarities of the English law terms' mastering process on the phonetic, morphological, word-formative, lexical and semantic levels of the modern Ukrainian language; descriptive, comparative, quantitative methods and method of morpheme, word-formative and component analysis were used; the novelty and results - for the first time the English loan words in the Ukrainian law terminology was described in this work, the peculiarities of the mastering process of the English adoptions on all levels of the Ukrainian language system were found out, the semantic changes accompanying migration of the English loan words from the Ukrainian economic terminology to the Ukrainian law terminological system were defined, the practical recommendations for the diminution of the borrowed terms' variant forms in present terminology were worked out; application field is lexicology, science of terminology, theory and practice of translation, official documents editing and lexicography.
