Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of cerebral metabolism and mechanisms of brain affection in patients with delirium tremens. By the method of jugular oxymetry and glucosometry we have established that the main factor that affect brain in the psychomotor excitement period is not hypoxia itself but the energy deficiency caused by the deterioration of cerebral capacity to utilize glucose. It was also established that jugular concentration of medium weight molecules fraction with absorption maximum on the wave 254 nm in length may be considered as a cerebral metabolic activity marker. Basing on the results of the investigation the optimized method of intensive care of that pathology was proposed. This method allow us to get better clinical results - to shorten the term of patients recovering from the psychotic state and to prevent the development of severe energy deficiency of brain. Sphere of use - anaesthesiology, intensive care, narcology.
