Essay

The dissertation is an effort to research the question of development of legislation in the sphere of legal proceedings in the Central Rada, Hetmanat and Directoriya. It first determines that the legislative basis for the activity of the courts and law enforcement organs in the mentioned above period was for a long period of time that of the former Russian empire and Temporary government. Over time, however, there started to appear new normative legal acts in the sphere of criminal-procedural law, adopted by the Central Rada, Hetmanat and Directoriya, replacing legislation of the past and bringing forth a number of statutes differed from the Russian laws before revolution and were entirely new to that era in time. The aftermath of the introduction of these new regulations would later be seen in the criminal-procedure legislation of Ukrainian SSR as well as in the Criminal-Procedural Code of today's Ukraine.
