Essay

The object -- the tetralogy of R.Ivanchenko on Ancient Russ, the reviews of some novels, articles, literary interviews. The purpose - research of polemic thematic, historically-philosophical thematic of novelistic thinking of the writer, searches and discovering in genre and style in judgement of historical life of people, features of conflicts, receptions and ways showing of historical events and persons, the place of tetralogy in literary context of 80-90th of XX century. Methods - specifically historical, compering-typological, aesthetic, complex, germanetical. Novelty of work: the dissertation is the first monographic research of historical epos of R.Ivanchenko on Ancient Russ. The tetralogy is considered in a literary context; the geneses of art thinking of the author, aggravation of its social urgency, philosophical features, intellectuality and crystallisation of individual literary style as a continuous process of art evolution and updating. Practical value of results is in expansion of representation about originality of individual literary stile of R.Ivanchenko, her esthetical-philosophical art thinking, in definition of the role and value of the tetralogy about Ancient Russ in development of a genre of the historical novel. The results of research can be used in works on history of Ukrainian literature of XX century, in certain parts of textbooks, in courses on history of the Ukrainian literature in high school institutions, in special courses and special seminars, for researches on specialist and bachelor degrees and year/term researches of students of high school institutions, in facultative occupations at teachers schools, colleges, lyceums and grammar schools.
