Essay

Object of studies - superelastic electron interaction with the metastable magnesium and strontium atoms; aims of studies - complex investigation of superelastic electron scattering by the metastable magnesium and strontium atoms, including process observation and revelation, determination of superelastic scattering cross section, search for the mechanisms of process occurrence and its model description; methods of studies - electron spectroscopy method, electric and optical methods; scientific novelty of results - the lines due to the superelastic electron scattering from the metastable states of magnesium and strontium atoms have been found in the energy-loss spectra of scattered electrons. The superelastic electron scattering cross sections have been determined for magnesium and strontium atoms showing a resonance structure. The physical nature of the above structure and the spectral line emissions found in the interaction region are explained by the contribution on the formation and decay of negative-ion excited states of the atoms under study. Suggested two-channel model of superelastic process has found an experimental justification; degree of implementation - under planning; area (branch) of application: atomic physics, plasma physics
