Essay

The manuscript is devoted to researching of creative activity as the project method of an architect professional work. The content of an architectural idea and means of its formation during creative activity have been studied. Creative activity has been treated as a process of translating from natural language (project program) into meta language (graphic sketch). The theoretical model for interaction of concepts and images as means of formation of an architectural idea in creative activity of an architect has been devoted. The author has made recommendations for optimization of the process of forming an architectural idea.
