The dissertation that studies modern conditions of national minorities in multiethnic Ukraine, basic tendencies of their development. It submits definitions and methodology of research on national minorities; significant attention is given to the analysis of national minorities from the standpoint of their potential participation in political processes. The concept of national minority as the potential subject of political life is also researched. In the course of research, significant attention was devoted to the analysis of specific baseground materials on the activities of national minorities.
