Object of the study: Pre-menstrual syndrome. Purpose of the study: To determine the pathophysiological mechanisms of pre-menstrual syndrome development, to work out a highly informative technique for diagnosis, to develop a pathogenetically substantiated therapeutic complex with the use of acupuncture. Methods of the study: To achieve the purpose of the work, clinical laboratory, clinical instrumental, biochemical, immunoenzyme, pathopsychological and statistical methods were used. Practical significance of the obtained results: The findings of the performed study were used to develop and introduce into practice a new clinically effective and cost-efficient technique to treat PMS, which includes concomittant use of acupuncture according to the original scheme and generally accepted drugs. Novelty of the obtained results: For the first time, pathophysiological mechanisms of development of PMS as a disease of deadaptation were described. For the first time it was demonstarted that in patients with PMSdevelopment of the disease was related to emotional personal profile of the patient; neurogenic origin of PMS as a result of disturbances in the adaptation processes in the organism in response to cyclic fluctuations in the level of sex hormones and neuromediators was proved; the efficacy of PMS treatment with the use of acupuncture based on pathogenetically validated acupuncture prescription was proved by laboratory, instrumental and biochemical techniques; long-term results of different methods of treating PMS were investigated; cost-effectiveness of acupuncture was proved. Theoretical significance of the obtained results consists in widening of the knowledge about PMS as deadaptation syndrome, the role of suprasegment structures of the CNS in its development, therapeutic capabilities of acupuncture in gynecology. Introduction: The results of the work were inreoduced into clinical practice of cosultation department for women of State Hospital "Amran" (Amran County, Yemen), gynecology departments of Kharkiv City Perinatology Center, consultation department for women (Lugansk City Hospital No. 1), consultation and gynecology departement (Lugansk General Hospital No. 2), consultation and gynecology departement (Lugansk General Hospital No. 6). The findings of the research are used in the teaching process at Perinatology and Gynecology Department (Kharkiv Medical Academy for Post-graduate Training), Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Faculty of Fundamental Medicine (Kharkiv National University named after V. Karasin). Sphere of application: medicine, obstetrics and gynecology.
