Mwfeg I. The role of traditions in the formation of residential hous building in the modern towns of Jordan

The role and place of traditions in the formation of the architecture of residential house building in the modern towns of Jordan is analyzed and the tendencies of this phenomena development are revealed. Based on the methodology of the research work there are historical, structural and comparative analyses. There was implemented the analysis of historical development of Jordan architecture and there were defined the main principles of traditional arrangement of dwelling. The typology of traditional Jordan dwelling is elaborated and the main principles for formation of planning and art-figurative solutions are defined. In the research work the directions of the development of modern architecture in the towns of Jordan were first analised. The analysis of development of the modern Jordan dwelling architecture in the context of use of traditional principles of the formation of planning solutions was first implemented. Namely, considering the adaptation of the objects of residential building to local conditions of the climate and landscape, considering the adaptability to traditional forms of living conditions, considering the using of the main principles of the formation of planning and art-figurative solutions in the modern architectural-designing practices. It is defined that the architecture of the country is developing in the close contact with the architecture of the neighboring countries, first of all the countries of the Near Eastern region. The comparative analysis of the main directions of development of modern residential house building of Jordan and neighboring countries shows that the development is going the similar ways. The analysis of modern development of Jordan architecture shows that priority direction of its development is the interpretation and application of the traditional architectural forms, motives, details and building materials in the practices.
