The object is patients with bacterial abscesses of the liver; the aim is to classify liver abscesses, improve results of the diagnosis of the disease and treatment of patients; the methods are clinical, laboratory, imaging investigations, microbiological, pathological and statistical methods; the new approach lies in first created unified classification of the liver abscesses, definition of optimal examination methods and differentiated treatment of patients; the main results include decrease in rate of complications, mortality and shortened hospital stay; introduced in medical institutions in the city of Lviv; the field is surgery.
