Essay

The investigation of pure and cerium doped halide crystals with intrinsic and impurity core-valence luminescence were carried out with the purpose of nature clarification of mechanisms for radiative decay of high-energy electron excitation in wide-gap dielectric crystals. Methods of luminescent spectroscopy were used for investigation of transitions with core holes participation and interconfigurational transitions in cerium ion. The interaction of 5pCs-core holes with surface defects and impurity electron states were detected. The models for the mechanism of cerium luminescence excitation in halide compounds have been developed. Li-based materials for the detection of neutrons have been proposed. The results are used in training process and for the searching and elaboration of new fast scintillators. Application - luminescent materials science.
