Essay

The object of research - contemporary English argumentative discourse of school debate as a complex communicative activity. The aim of research - the study of gendered speech strategies and tactics of domination in argumentative discourse. The methods of research - orthographic transcription, conversation analysis, participant observation. Theoretical results and novelty - application of synergetic approach in the analysis of gender communicative interaction in the argumentative discourse, "live" speech as the material of gender analysis, definition of characteristics of the speech event of school public debate, analysis of gendered usage of tactical speech moves comprising the strategy of speech domination. Practical results and novelty - results could be used in courses on general linguistics, basic communication theory, argumentation theory, special courses on gender and sociolinguistics, for writing course papers, diploma theses, and dissertations. The object and the level of realisation - have been realized in teaching practice of higher educational establishments. The effect of realisation is high. The sphere of usage is linguistic, pedagogical, higher educational establishments.
