Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of the history of ethnomusicological researches of polyethnical region - Northern Black Sea Coast. On the basis of the literature study an study an outline of the peculiarities of the three stages the of settlement of the Northern Black Sea Coast is given and the methodology of regional ethnomusicological researches is regarded. Song and language belong to the most important stimulae of the preservation of ethnic traditions in region. The analysis of the scientific work as to the recording of folklore and its study is fulfilled and the of researchers' interest towards music culture of the region and ethnocultural problems is elucidated. Three stages of the development of the folklorist work are investigated: those of philologic-historical, musical-cultural, and etnnomusicological fields. Contemporary tendencies of the music folkloristic work in region bear witness of the broadening of the width of researches of subethnic groups of Ukrainian population and of national minorities. One traces also tendencies towards recreative activity in the places of compiling and distributing the folklore and towards its inclusion in the triad "folklore - folkloristics - folklorism". One notes the formation of two main research centers - in Odessa (with the priority rowards the study of the cultures of national minorities) and in Kherson - Mykolaiv (with the prevalence of the interests towards Ukrainistics). The conclusions contain the suggestions as to the necessity of coordination ctntre for the music-folkloristic work in the regions.
