Essay

Screening for bacterial vaginosis in pregnant women of Lviv region was performed. The features of anamnesis, course of gestation, delivery and postpartum period in women with bacterial vaginosis were investigated. The high frequency of chronic pelvic inflammatory diseases and an increased risk of miscarriage in the second trimester were noted. Тhe adverse influence of bacterial vaginosis in pregnant woman on intrauterine fetal state was proved according to the data of ultrasonography, cardiotoсography, assessment of the fetal biophysical profile and hormonal function of feto-placental complex. Also the higher level of newborn's morbidity was revealed in mothers suffering from bacterial vaginosis. Among newborn's pathology the intrauterine growth retardation and osteomuscular malformations predominated. The positive effect of the treatment of bacterial vaginosis on further pregnancy outcome was demonstrated. The necessity of screening for bacterial vaginosis in pregnant women and planning pregnancy women was proved.
