Essay

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of the cultural and historical context for the European rationality coming into being as a complex system and structural phenomenon. The conceptual background for the European rationality topicality has been characterized, the typology of main approaches for its comprehension has been worked out; the social and cultural determinants of its coming into being have been defined, cultural and historical forms of existence (eidetic, theological, gnoseological, technocratic) have been analyzed. The European rationality, which is a complicated, dynamic system, has been considered as two-level model, which organization, self-organization and evolution are predetermined by two groups of factors: inner (genetically caused) and outer (environmental influence). Social sphere changes (new value references, norms, and regulations) have got as its secundum corresponding transformations, which predetermine concrete historical understanding of the rationality, and peculiarities ofits social functioning within the given historical space.
