Essay

The object of the study is the regional recreational systems of the Kharkiv region. Methods of study: field method, computer and cartographical method, statistical method, comparative and geographical method, estimating method, sociological method. The study expands the investigative boundaries of theoretical and methodological basics of recourses and recreation problems, complex characterization and assessment of the recreational resources of the Kharkiv region and justification of the ways for their rational use. Theoretical conceptions related to the recreational resources' composition have been systematized and expanded, their structure has been presented in a new way, in particular, natural, natural and anthropogenic, historicocultural and infrastructural recreational resources have been singled out, and the need to include the ecological segment therein has been justified. The idea of the area's resources and recreational actuality in the way of actually achieved level of the use of recreationalrecourses available at a given time has been developed, and actuality levels for the Kharkov region have been determined. On the basis of the acquired results eight regional recreational systems have been singled out, their resources and recreational certificates drawn up and resources and recreational assessment carried out. Suggestions for improvement of the use of regional resources have been made. 13 scientific papers have been published on the paper's subject-matter. The results of the paper may be used to implement recreational sector's development programs, when compiling inventories of recreational resources, and in practical work of travel agencies. The developed scientific provisions have been partially introduced into the curriculum.
