Object of research: the clinical importance of idiopathic chronic gastric atony in surgical practice and possibility of its operative treatment. The aim of research: Definition of clinical importance and an appraisal of efficiency of surgical treatment of chronic gastric atony. Methods of research: Retrospective (questionnaire) and prospective clinico-statistical method based on general-clinical, ultrasonographic, radiological, endoscopic, histological, electrogastrographic, radioisotopic methods. Practical significance of the obtained results: On the basis of the analysis of the data of the literature and results of own researches recommendations on selection of patients with chronic gastric atony for rational surgical treatment are offered. The reasons of the mediocre and unsatisfactory late results of surgical treatment chronic gastric atony are found out and measures on their improvement are developed. On the basis of research of the early and late results after various operative interventions in patients with separate clinical forms of chronic gastric atony, optimum variants of surgical treatment are offered. The specific questionnaire for an estimation of quality of life in patients with chronic gastric atony, accessible to use in wide clinical practice is developed. Scientific novelty of the obtained results: For the first time the comparative estimation of the early and late results in different methods of surgical treatment of chronic gastric atony is carried out. Postoperative complications are analysed and systematized, the reasons of the mediocre and poor late results are found out. Work out and introduced into the clinical practice new "method of ultrasonic diagnostic motor-evacuatory infringements of stomach) (the patent of Ukraine 4790A from 15.07.2002). To improve tactics of treatment of patients with chronic gastric atony. Shown the importance of estimating quality of a life of the patient with chronic gastric atony during the assessment of efficiency of medical treatments and workout optimum surgical tactics. A degree of introduction: Results of research are introduced into practice of work at the clinic of faculty of endoscopy, surgery and topographical anatomy KMAPE and surgical department of the regional clinical traumatological hospital of Kharkov. Methods of diagnostic of gastroduodenal motility infringements and its quantitative estimation are introduced into practice of work of department of radioisotope researches of the Kharkov scientific research institute of medical radiology and radiology, and also radiological department of regional clinical traumatological hospital of Kharkov.
