The thesis is devoted to the research of the stabilizes electric arc and development of the high resort effective electroarc heater (EAH) of gas. The review of the researched of heating of gad by the stabilized electric arc has shown that basic imperfections that are used for this purpose are low resource of work of electrodes and the degree of efficiency. The search of ways of solving the given problems has allowed to reveal the constructive decisions and conditions promoting long and effective work of EAH. As the result the partitioned cathodic unit for EAH was created which works on aggressive plasma-working gas with the protection of the cathode by the inert atmosphere (Ar) of low pressure. The erosion of the tungstic cathode of such EAH is much lower than the known results when reducing the consumption of Ar expenses 100 times more and which may work in a mode of the plasma cathode. The system of the differential equations which describes interaction of a positive column, not electricity-conductive areas and the walls of the discharging channel in the closed form has been solved, experimental facts are generalized and submitted as diagrams and criterial dependences. The electroarc heater with partitioned cathodic and anode in units with distributed force of a current and consumption of gas for the plasma-chemical processing of coal with the capacity of 350 kW and with the thermal efficiency 0,78 and the resource of work 500-1000 hours was worked out.
