The Ph. D thesis is devoted to the study of style evolution of the works of V.I. Zaretsky in the 1960-80th in the context of artistic nonconformism. The attempt to combine particular artistic problems with the cultural and socio-political reality of that time was made for the first time. The state of fine art and cultural elucidation of presented problem was analyzed in this work; the main tendencies of the development and essential peculiarities of the phenomenon of the "artistic nonconformism" in Ukraine were clarified; the development of nonconformist tendencies influenced by socio-political events was conditioned; the style evolution of the works of V. Zaretsky, the formation of his style, style influences, originality and innovative courage of his works were conditioned, the individual style of the artist was determined; the role of V. Zaretsky as a bright representative of Kyiv School of Shistdesyatnytstvo was studied. The Ph. D thesis is the first attempt to substantiate theoretically the formation artistic personality of V. Zeretsky in the context of cultural-artistic processes in Ukraine in the 60-80th of the XX century.
