The object of the study are didactic books, polemic treaties and panegyrics of XVII - XVIII c. The aim: found out main questions connected with syncretism of poetry and prose in Ukrainian literature of XVII - XVIII c., genesis of this phenomenon its nature, and forms of existence and also its development. The methods of the research: the descriptive, the comprehended-historical, the structural, the neorhetoric, the hermeneutic, the semiotic, the psychoanalysis. Theoretical meaning is found out the specific of baroque rhetoric. Practical meaning is the materials for lectures from history of Ukrainian literature of XVII - XVIII c. in universities, special courses and seminars, writing textbooks
