Essay

This work was designed to study the dynamics of the frequency of separate forms of the circulatory system diseases, the cerebrovascular pathology (CVP) included, and to explore the CVP structure in the liquidators of Chornobyl NPS explosion consequences, during the 1986-1996-year period. The high risk age groups for dyscirculatory encephalopathy and stroke development among the liquidators at a moment of their participation in liquidation works have been identified. These were the age groups of 20-29 years and 30-39 years. Examination of the liquidators following 13-15 years after accident has revealed the changes in the cerebral hemodynamics regulation, which might be considered as the CVP risk factors. These changes manifested themselves in the reduced reliability of cerebral circulation autoregulation, in the narrowed range of cerebral hemodynamics compensatory possibilities and in the disturbance of hemodynamic-metabolic interrelationships. The liquidators of age groups 30-39 and 40-49 years examined 13-15 years after Chernobyl explosion have been ascribed to the groups of a high risk of the onset of structural-functional changes in the cerebral hemodynamics. The author has found the one-type pattern of changes in the status of the cerebral hemodynamics and in its interrelations with the brain bioelectric activity in the liquidators with a negative familial stroke anamnesis and in the radiation-intact relatives of the ischemic stroke patients in comparison with the radiation-intact persons with a stroke-free genealogical anamnesis. Alongside, the author has elucidated the peculiarities of the cerebral hemodynamics changes under the influence of radiation or hereditary factors. It has been shown that brain hemodynamics autoregulation disturbances prevailed in the liquidators, while the cerebral vascular structural-morphological changes were more typical of the relatives of the ischemic stroke patients.
