Dissertation is devoted to the research into an up-to-date topic of influence of style peculiarities of students' personalities on operational and effective characteristics of their mastering foreign language by way of constructing psychologically-based training and education to consider individual (personality-style) peculiarities and are aimed both at foreign language teaching efficiency's improvement and at personal students' development implemented predominantly by means of foreign language training. Peculiarities of cognitive styles were shown to significantly influence operational mastering of foreign language by students. In particular, they play a success factor role or construction factors of typical strategies in those narrow types of activity which comprise the activity dealing with foreign language study. As a result of comparative analysis, effectiveness of the proposed experimental training was shown to form the basic capabilities, the aggregate of which determines the success in mastering foreign language. Specific character of foreign language study in non-linguistic (technical) institute determines beside with other factors that the study of foreign languages by students becomes one of the triggers expanding their vital interests; the proposed active study is an indirect factor of students' personality growth, it enhances their self-determination and facilitates their drive toward self-education. Practical implementation of the research results was conducted in the form of experimental study of foreign language at the non-linguistic institute; elements of this research have been introduced into pedagogic practice at other higher educational institutions; obtained findings are being used in consulting practice on the problems of teaching foreign languages.
