Vdovichenko L. Heroic past in Gnat Hotkevich's works (folk and historical sources, the problem of its interpretation).

The thesis is dedicated to the research of heroic past in Gnat Hotkevich's works (based on historical and literary works). One of the first attempts of Hotkevich's fiction and drama complex analysis has been made in the thesis. The place and significance of his works in the literary process of the first third of the 1900s have been sound; a lot of attention has been drawn to the author's interpretation of folk and historical sources in the works of the master of word, historical and artistic relevance, aesthetic ideals embodiment in the writer's historical and literary prose and drama; singularity and originality of G. Hotkevich creative individuality have been revealed. The aesthetic and ideological singularity of the writer's historical literary works formed on the basis of Ukrainian morals ethics, aesthetics and psychology. The folk, historical, philosophical nature of his works has been interpreted. The images, problems, plot and composition peculiarities accompanying his every work have been elucidated.
