Essay

The thesis deals with the peculiarities of transition from totalitarism to democracy as well as preconditions of establishment of democratic political regime in Ukraine. There has been grounded o conclusion on interdependency of democracy and legislation, democratization processes and formation of national legislation. Under conditions of social transformations, legislation is the basis and instrument of their realization; it plays the key role in formation of civil society institutions, integration of Ukraine into the European and world communities. The author has analyzed the basic stages tendencies and regularities in the history of formation of the national legislation. Modern national legislation is mixed and instable contradictory legislation hampers change in society. That is why special attention is paid to the problems of legislation improvement, collision overcoming, legislation systematization and efficiency increase, implementation of international law rules and harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with European standards.
